It’s been brought to my attention lately that I should probably be careful when I speak about how excited I am at knocking someone off. Sometimes I find myself rambling about a particularly exciting idea and forget that some people may not realize I’m speaking about book characters. One of these days I am bound to have a lovely visit from the police!
Writers are a unique bunch. I can say this because I’m proudly one of them. Who else can get excited over plotting the demise of someone?
As a child, my favorite game to play was Clue. I used to drive my parents bonkers, begging to play it over and over again. The thrill of solving the mystery was only half of it. For the most part I just liked finding out I was right!
And now, years later, I get to play my own game of Clue. I get to place the characters in their “rooms”, select the weapon (usually something fantastical) and let ‘er rip.
Do you ever find yourself doing this? Do visions of deceit, betrayal and malice filter through your dreams? (If not, don’t worry. There’s still hope for you yet!)
