While checking my stats on Goodreads, I noticed I had a new friends request…from a traditionally published author from the UK. My first thought was to do a little dance. Movies stars, eh. But give me a famous author and I’m all gel in the knees! See, I can get star struck too 🙂
But then I read what she had to say. In a nutshell, she was witness to my 1 star fiasco and wanted to let me know she loved how I handled the situation. (At this point my face hurts cause I’m grinning. Watch out Cheshire cat. You’ve got nothing on me right now!)
What a wonderful compliment. See. Being nice, no matter the circumstance, is the right thing to do. (A tad preachy? So what! You all know I’m right haha)
BUT…what I really wanted to do was give you a sneak peek into one of her books. WHY HAVE I NOT HEARD OF THIS???
Inhale. Exhale.
Breathe.
Breathe.
Breathe . . .
The world is dead.
The survivors live under the protection of Breathe, the corporation that found a way to manufacture oxygen–rich air.
Alina
has been stealing for a long time. She’s a little jittery, but not terrified. All she knows is that she’s never been caught before. If she’s careful, it’ll be easy. If she’s careful.
Quinn
should be worried about Alina and a bit afraid for himself, too, but even though this is dangerous, it’s also the most interesting thing to happen to him in ages. It isn’t every day that the girl of your dreams asks you to rescue her.
Bea
wants to tell him that none of this is fair; they’d planned a trip together, the two of them, and she’d hoped he’d discover her out here, not another girl.
And as they walk into the Outlands with two days’ worth of oxygen in their tanks, everything they believe will be shattered. Will they be able to make it back?
I just might break my kindle budget to buy this book! Sounds sooooo good! Has anyone else read it?
I’m headed over to merrily ole London in a couple months so I just might have to grab a hardcopy when I’m over that way!
Your grace in the way you carried yourself and your maturity totally paid off! I’m so happy for you! I agree – I though you were very gracious and behaved appropriately. Let’s hope I have the same humble demeanor when I’m faced with the same situation… *GULP!*
It isn’t easy. Trust me. But at the end of the day, you want people to be honest. And she chose to be VERY honest 🙂
