I just saw an article on msn about a prof from Princeton who believes that fat people should be charged airplane tickets according to their weight.  I’m sorry…but just because someone is overweight does not mean they earn more money!  How ludicrous.  Has this guy even paid attention to the statistics of obesity in this country?

I’ve got a couple humorous theories on this “professional opinion.”

1. He secretly works for the airline and wants to try to encourage higher rates.

2.  He’s a spy from the cruise companies and is trying to encourage sea travel instead.  Not many people taking up on that offer after the recent incidents.  I don’t care how cheap you make the prices, people are still leery.

3.  He’s a car salesman in his spare time and thinks we should all drive new cars to the beach this year.  Whatever!  I’m off to the Dominican in April and I don’t remember there being any roads out that way!

AND if the airlines were to buy into this idea, I’d expect larger comfy seats to be replaced with the ones that aren’t suitable for “fat” people.

Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect his right to share it..but I can’t say that I personally agree with it.

So what do you think?  Is this prof off his rocker or on the mark?  I’d love to hear your opinion on this issue.
